Sound Engineer

Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Fuquay Varina, NC (PGBC) is seeking an experienced, competent Sound Engineer with knowledge of operating and maintaining technical equipment used to record, enhance, and mix sound. The ideal candidate is a mature and committed Christian with a desire to serve the church and others. He/she has experience with live church music and understands the best practices for both in-sanctuary sound and migrating the sound online. The Sound Engineer will report to the Senior Pastor. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Manage, supervise, direct, train and coordinate the audiovisual (AV) volunteers to use audio and video equipment during worship services and other church activities. 
• Properly set up, operate, and maintain all AV equipment for use during worship services and other church activities.
• Maintain Renewed Vision - “ProPresenter” software and computer equipment and set up presentations for services as needed.
• Operate mixing board and provide coverage for a minimum of 2 Wednesday night choir practices and 2 Sunday morning services each month (schedule can vary depending on special events)
• Familiarize self with the building, its equipment, policies, programs and services, as well as the schedule of events; maintain familiarity with same
• Ensure the setup and storage of AV equipment after all events; keeping storage areas organized. 
• Troubleshoot AV equipment and facilitate repairs and upgrades when warranted. 
• Maintain awareness of and adherence to safety, security protocols and emergency procedures 
• Provide basic instruction on the operation of AV equipment to support the ministries and departments served. 
• Clean and maintain AV equipment, report damages and misuse to the AV Team for potential escalation to Senior Pastor 
• Handle sensitive, confidential information (e.g., files, paperwork), assignments, and conversations with tact, discretion, and diplomacy. 
• Provide written reports to AV Team as requested. 
• Other duties as assigned. 

QUALIFICATIONS 

•  Must be knowledgeable and proficient with a digital sound board in a production environment, including setting up, patching, and mixing (preferably, at least 1 year of full-time experience or equivalent) 
•  Knowledge of AV equipment including monitors, sound boards, speakers, various microphones, and other audio equipment 
•  Ability to conduct a sound check quickly and effectively. 
•  Attentive to detail, organized, and demonstrates excellent time management. 
•  Excellent written and oral communication skills 
•  Possesses the desire and ability to work creatively in a team setting. 
•  Excellent problem-solving skills including technical resolution. 
•  Ability to work under high levels of stress and pressure without loss of judgment. 
•  Training, supervising and apprenticing audio ministry (AV Team) volunteers to assist with the operation of the audio ministry. 
• Must have professional references that are acceptable to the Personnel Team CURRENT

SCHEDULE (need to be present in advance and afterward of these times as needed):

• Wednesday night music practices 6:30-9pm 
• Sunday morning 11am-12:15pm (also 8:30-9:30am if early services resume) 
• Occasional services for special church events (other events such as weddings, funerals, etc. may also need AV support)
